Samsung's Galaxy Nexus smartphone is next-in-line to receive an Android Jelly Bean update.
Albert Aydin has confirmed Verizon Wireless will rollout Android 4.2.2. In fact, the rollout process started on Tuesday, March 19.
With the Android update, new software enhancements include the photosphere camera feature. Photosphere allows users to take 360-degree panoramic pictures, which "can easily be shared with friends." The app in question also allow customization, such as filters, borders, and more.
Another improvement in the Galaxy Nexus update is the ability for users to place widgets on the lock screen for easier access. For example, users can place Gmail, Calendar, or Clock apps on the locked screen.
"Additionally, an all new Gesture Keyboard is available, allowing users to slide their finger from letter to letter to type a word," noted Aydin.
News of the carrier releasing Android 4.2.2 comes as customers are still irked at Verizon for being slow in releasing Android 4.1.2 earlier this year, as expressed on Verizon Wireless' Community boards.
"Last time I posted about this the files for 4.2 on Sprint were on Google's server. Now they are being pushed out. I'll say this for VZW. At least they're consistent. CONSISTENTLY LAST IN UPDATING THEIR PHONES!!!!. Well done, VZW. Well done," wrote carseller0822.
Gsmitchell wrote, "I have been reading from people with other phones on 4.2.2 that the battery life is much better. This is of special concern to us with the Galaxy Nexus, for obvious reasons. I like some of the new features in the interface, but I am really hoping for the better battery life. I will give this a week or two, but then I will have to make a decision. Verizon is truly the worst at updating their software...I just went through this whole ordeal with my Samsung Fascinate, and now this. Sheesh."
Samsung's Galaxy Nexus smartphone features a screen size of 4.65 inches with 1,280x720 pixels. The internal storage of the device is 16GB with 1GB of RAM. As for wireless connectivity, the Galaxy Nexus has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, and NFC access. The smartphone holds a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera while the front-facing camera has 1.3 megapixels. The Galaxy Nexus also has a 1,750mAh battery capacity.
