It appears that players who wish to extend Lara Croft's adventures in the recent reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise will be disappointed to know that there are no plans to add single player campaign DLC to the game. This was confirmed by Crystal Dynamics global brand manager Karl Stewart on an "Ask Me Anything" thread on Reddit.
When asked outright if fans could expect single player DLC to be added to the game, Stewart responded with the following brief message:
"There are currently no plans in place for any Single Player expansions. All of our DLC is based around the Multiplayer experience for now."
This is disappointing news for those wishing that they could continue Lara's story past the end on the game. However, this is good news for multiplayer fans, as they can expect more updates for the game after the recent release of the Caves & Cliffs multiplayer map pack for the Xbox 360 (PlayStation and PC fans will have to wait to get the DLC for the game). However, Stewart did add "for now" to the end of his statement, so there could always be the possibility that the company decides to make single player DLC sometime in the future.
So far, the new adventures of Lara Croft have been a smashing success for the veteran franchise. The game broke several sales records upon its release, and has been well received critically. If Crystal Dynamics is holding off on making single player DLC, then they could be waiting until they gather ideas for a sequel. But for now, players will just have to settle for the campaign mode that comes on the game, rather than hope for more single-player Tomb Raider action in the future.
