Klei Entertainment's Mark of the Ninja is going to be receiving some new DLC this summer. The extra content will include new gameplay features, as well as a brand new stage "set in a flashback to the early life of Dosan (the enlightened tattoo artist) that will set the stage for the events that transpire in Mark of the Ninja."
The "Special Edition" DLC will also include a new non-lethal takedown ability and two new items, one for stealthy approaches and one for more direct ones. Additionally, a developer commentary track has been recorded discussing "various aspects of the game's creation, anecdotes, at least two history lessons and other behind the scenes info from nearly everyone on the team." The commentary track will be available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Japanese, French, Italian, and German.
Klei Entertainment is hoping that this will bring some Mark of the Ninja fans back for a second round, stating, "for anyone who has already played Mark of the Ninja, we're hoping the Special Edition will give them a reason to revisit the game with both new challenges and insights, much as you'd watch the director's commentary of one of your favorite movies."
A price or specific release date for this Special Edition pack has not been officially announced. However, it has been confirmed for both Xbox Live Arcade and Steam versions of the game. Additionally, the new content will be on display at Klei Entertainment's booth at PAX East.
Mark of the Ninja is a side scrolling stealth/action game, originally released on September 7, 2012. The game was very well received, and currently holds a score of 90 on Metacritic.
