By now, most of us have heard about the disastrous SimCity launch where EA's servers could not keep up with the amount of users trying to play the always-online required game. This has put many people at unease over the fate of other game's that promise to always be connected to the internet, such as Bungie's upcoming Destiny. However, the company has already laid those fears to rest in the company's latest Mail Sack post.
"This isn't our first rodeo. Bungie is no stranger to anxious mobs of players who rush home after a midnight launch and put our best-laid plans to the test. Since a release date hasn't even been announced yet, we'll let our team focus on some less frightening but equally important challenges," Bungie said.
Considering the massive amount of players that each Halo game launch brought on, Bungie should be prepared for hordes of gamers playing the game early on. While the game will always be online, Bungie will most likely have a good handle of the loads the servers will need to handle.
In addition, Bungie has dropped a few tantalizing hints that we may be able to play as aliens in the upcoming shooter. When asked if players will only be able to play as humans, and if so, why, Bungie responded:
"Not all of the aliens in Destiny are evil, just like not all humans are good. We've barely scratched the surface on the character and customization options you'll have access to in Destiny, but we're not going to dig in any deeper today," the developer stated.
Bungie also went into some details about the scale of the game, as well as a few details about a new weapon in the game. Curious parties should read the full Mail Sack post over on Bungie.net for the full update of the game, set to be relased in 2014 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and 4, as well as being rumored for PC, Wii U, Vita, and the next-gen Xbox.
