Gamers curious about how long the single-player campaign for the PlayStation 3-exclusive game The Last of Us now have an answer, thanks to a video interview with Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer. Meyer also gave gamers a preview of what to expect from the game's DLC content as well.
In a new video interview with EvolveEnt, Meyer gave a clear picture of how the player's gameplay style can affect the length of the game.
"We're definitely looking at more than 12 hours; maybe 12 to 16 right now is what we're looking at," Meyer said. "It really depends on how you play. You can play a little bit slower if you try to approach situations stealthy. If you really wanna explore the environment and scavenge, that's going to add more time, too."
In addition, Meyer revealed that Naughty Dog has no plans to extend the length of the story with DLC, as the company plans to create multiplayer focused expansions, and not bonus chapters to the single player portion of the game.
The Last of Us was originally slated for a May 7 release, but naughty Dog pushed the release date back to June 14, citing the "massive" story of the game, as well as a desire to "ensure every detail" was up to the developers impeccably high standards. However, the game has a playable demo in the works, with people who bought God of War: Ascension getting first access to the demo.
The Last of Us promises to be another triple-A title for Naughty Dog, creators of the Uncharted series, among others, so gamers can expect the game to a fantastic experience. If the company feels the need to delay the game, then they would most likely need extra time to polish up the game, not fix broken mechanics.
