Capcom and Valve have announced that Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead 2 will have a joint crossover on the PC. PC users who own Resident Evil 6 will have the chance to play with several Left 4 Dead 2 characters, while Left 4 Dead will receive several new enemies from Resident Evil 6 to fight, IGN reports.
In Resident Evil 6's No Mercy Mercenaries mode, players will be able to choose Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle, each with their own specialized weapon load out to choose from. The Witch and Mini-Tank will also be appearing in the game as special enemies during the game.
Meanwhile, the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 will have the Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman enemies from Resident Evil to content with.
Valve's Chet Faliszek had this to say concern the two companies franchises crossing over:
"We're huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it...Resident Evil 6 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi shares Valve's enthusiasm for the project as well."
"The Resident Evil 6 team really enjoyed working on this crossover, and we're confident that our fans will have a great time with it too! We hope you enjoy this unique content.," Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said.
This is huge news, as two of the biggest zombie franchises in modern gaming have come together, despite belonging to two different companies. While this may not be a full game, it will be a huge amount of fun for zombie fans to mix it up with both game's unique content. PC gamers will be receiving a very rare gift whenever this content comes out.
