Samsung has finally revealed the Galaxy S4, and it looks like Apple has taken note. Apple executive is once again noting his company's enhancements against rivals Android and Samsung.
Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller took part in what is considered as a rare interview ahead of Samsung's launch event for the Galaxy S4 smartphone.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Schiller downplayed any type of competition there is against Apple. Schiller noted that in his research, four times as many iPhone users switched from an Android device compared to vice versa. In addition, he referred to the Android as "plain and simple" and running on old operating systems.
"Android is often given as a free replacement for a feature phone and the experience isn't as good as an iPhone," Schiller told WSJ, noting Google Inc.'s Android will suffer due to have elements from different companies instead of relying on their own resources.
"When you take an Android device out of the box, you have to sign up to nine accounts with different vendors to get the experience iOS comes with," he said. "They don't work seamlessly together."
Android and Samsung have either not responded and declined to comment, respectively.
Schiller's comments come two days after he posted a tweet for the first time since Christmas stating "Be safe out there," followed by a link to to the "Mobile Threat Report" based on the fourth quarter of 2012. The report, however, heavily emphasizes Android.

What is notable about the report is the heavy emphasis on Android.
"Android malware has been strengthening its position in the mobile threat scene," the report's executive summary noted. "Every quarter, malware authors bring forth new threat families and variants to lure more victims and to update on the existing ones. In the fourth quarter alone, 96 new families and variants of Android threats were discovered, which almost doubles the number recorded in the previous quarter."
Schiller joined Apple in April 1997 and has been involved in launch events of devices such as the iPads, iPhone 5, and iPod Touch devices.
