AT&T has rolled out an Android update for the Sony Xperia TL.

On Tuesday, the carrier confirmed the Xperia TL can now update to Android version 4.1, which is known also as the Jelly Bean.

"The latest version of Android software, Jelly Bean makes your smartphone easier to use through several enhancements, including changes to the notification display that group updates from the same application together, and allow you to expand or collapse notifications," said AT&T's Shayan Rezvani.

Additional add-ons in the Jelly Bean update is the ability for customers to view full texts from SMS and photos from MMS in the notifications windows. Event descriptions will also be more highlighted without having to open the app.

"Xperia TL customers will notice a new enhanced camera interface with Superior Auto mode, that automatically selects the best settings to use when taking a photo, and new HDR capabilities which takes three pictures in different light conditions and combines them into one photo for the best result," Rezvani added.

With the update, the AT&T DriveMode app will be installed. DriveMode assists in curbing texting and driving and can be set-up to automatically send an original reply to incoming messages once a vehicle starts moving 25 miles per hour.

The battery of the Xperia TL will also improve with an improved power management feature.

To update to the Jelly Bean, connect the Xperia TL to Wi-Fi, select "Applications," then "Settings," followed by "About phone," and "Software update," then follow the on-screen instructions.
