Owners of the Galaxy S2 smartphone have been waiting for months for the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, and finally Vodafone UK has provided it.
The update is reportedly available through KIES, a freeware software app used to communicate between Microsoft Windows or Apple's Mac operating systems.
An over-the-air (OTA) update could be on its way as well. To check for the OTA update, checking "Settings," then "About Phone," and "Software updates" ahead of tapping "Check for Updates."
The update is only available for UK Vodafone customers. Vodafone customers elsewhere, notably in Australia, still have to waiting for the Jelly Bean update.
The Australian Vodafone Android 4.1.2 update is in its second testing phase according to a Help and Support member of Vodafone Australia's forum.
Help and Support's Alana stated, "We test every version of software that we release so its availability is all going to depend on how well it performs. If we find any bugs or errors with the software then we'll refer the software back to the manufacturer to fix and once it's returned to us we'll test it again. It all comes down to us wanting to make sure that when we release any new software updates that's it's going to work as it's meant to."
The Galaxy S2 features a screen size of 4.3-inches with 800x400 pixel resolution at 217 pixels per inch, 16GB and 32GB internal storage models with 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera at 3,264x2,448 pixels, front-facing camera at two-megapixels, 1,650 mAh battery capacity, standby time of 610 hours and talk time up to almost nine hours under a 3G network.
