A third map pack is being released for Halo 4, with April 8 being the targeted date for download. Microsoft has announced that developer Certain Affinity will release the Castle Map pack, which includes three brand-new maps to Halo 4 multiplayer, as well as a six versus six playlist.
The three maps that will become available are entitled Daybreak, Outcast, and Perdition. The maps will cost 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99). users who own the $25 Halo 4 War Games Map Pass will be able to download the DLC for free. This will be the third and last map pack for the game. the two previous map packs were entitled Crimson and Majestic, respectively.
The new six versus six mode will focus on having players use coordinated objective gameplay and teamwork to defeat the other team. It sounds like the six on six matches will be less about deathmatch style throwdowns, but rather making players work together like a capture the flag game.
To further add incentive to gamers thinking about picking up the map pack, 250 gamer points will be available across nine new achievements that will be added to the game.
Both previous map packs have received praise from users, so it should be expected that Castle gets the same type of treatment from players. the six versus six is intriguing, especially if the new maps were designed for this new game feature. While details may be few at this point, gamers at least have some clue as to what to expect April 8 when they download the new maps. At the very least, they should get further milage from the critically acclaimed game, and should enjoy the final bit of content they are receiving from the developers.
