The final DLC for Mass Effect 3, Citadel, has been released, and reviews are heaping praise on the last adventure for Commander Shepard, the Normandy, and all the other charcters along the way. If one thing is clear about the DLC, it is that Bioware pulled out all the stops to make this DLC great.

"This is a love letter from BioWare to its creation, with everyone bringing their A-game. Writing, level design, cinematography... pick any department, the passion bleeds out of every single pixel" -IGN

While some may be wishing that this DLC would bring about one final, epic mission for Shepard and company, instead Bioware went much simpler, allowing the player to bring back most every character from the series for one last hurrah. Though there is still hefty amounts of combat in the game, in the end it is all about the interactions between characters.

"The combat is just a vehicle to get the band back together and reconnect atop the corpses of your enemies. The memories come when you're back at your fancy, new apartment planning for one massive party with the entire crew. That's when the tone of this story takes a dramatic shift to the comedic."-Gamespot

While this DLC may not as substantial as some would like, the ability to interact with the characters one last time is welcomed, as is the virtual reality arena where players can test their skills once again with most of the characters from the series. Overall, while some players might be turned off by the light-hearted nature of the DLC, it is a worthy epilogue to the series.

"The only real issue with the DLC is that the $14.99 (1200 MS Points) price tag will only grant you about 4 hours of gameplay - although it does add the apartment and a new section that houses a few new minigames. If that doesn't scare you off, then Citadel is a surprisingly sweet and fun epilogue to what, despite mixed feelings on the ending, is still among the best gaming franchises of this generation.-Digital Trends

Citadel is a carefully crafted swan song to fans of the series from BIoware, filled with inside jokes and little moments between characters that allows the player to spend a little more time with the whole crew before saying goodbye. If that sounds lame to some, then so be it. But Mass Effect was always about choices and interactions, and this DLC sums up those themes fantastically.
