Square Enix has announced that Sleeping Dogs' DLC pack, entitled Year of the Snake, will be available to download on March 12. The DLC will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and PC, and will cost 560 Microsoft Points, or $6.65 (plus tax) for those with PlayStation 3s or PCs.
The DLC will feature six brand-new missions, and take place immediately after the events of the game. Wei Shen is charged with taking on "a vicious end-of-the-world cult hell-bent on cleansing the city of its evils."
New guns will be introduced, such as electroshock pistols and tear gas guns. These are to reflect the story of the DLC, as, in the end of the main game, Wei Shen is put back on the Hong Kong Police Department.
These non-lethal weapons reflect the fact that Shen must now restrain himself, and cannot simply blow people away now that he is an officer of the law. New abilities shall reflect this, as in order to complete the missions, Shen must bring in his suspects alive. However, if players really want to lay the smackdown on somebody, they can still do so if they wish. In addition, new outfits and collectables will come with the package.
This is the third DLC for Sleeping Dogs to be released since the game was launched last August. What is interesting is that Square Enix promised the game would have a constant stream of add-ons for the first six months after release, according to IGN. But this DLC comes seven months after the game was released. Could more DLC be underway for the game, or is this merely an unexpected delay? I would lean more towards the latter, but you never know.
