Smartphone manufacturer Motorola is finally rolling out for the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in phases. No word on exactly when and what regions will get the update, but it sounds like everyone should be getting the upgrades fairly soon.
The 4.1 version of Jelly Bean includes several new features. Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX users will now be able to use voice search, with the phone speaking back an answer or listing answers to the question. The notification bar has gotten a makeover, allowing users to answer calls or texts within the notification bar with a push of a button. Google Now will also be included in the update. This service will deliver notifications about important events and things to your phone in real time before the user even asks for them.
Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx owners have been clamoring for an update to Android Jelly Bean 4.1 for quite some time now. It was rumored earlier in the month that Motorola was in beta testing for the 4.1 update. Though it appeared that some people were receiving the upgrade around Christmas last year, the update had flaws and was quickly pulled. But now it seems that the company is ready to try again with the upgrade. Now Motorola can focus on bringing the Android 4.2 upgrade to their phones.
Considering that many carriers and companies that long stretches of time to upgrade their phones, especially if they are older models, this news is quite heartening for RAZR and RAZR Maxx to hear that the beta period was over so quickly and they can now download their upgrades. Stay tuned for further developments as they happen.
