The launch trailer for Gears of War: Judgment has been released, and it shows off what Gears does best: guns, explosions, and chainsaws.
The trailer is a bit light on the story, but we already know a bit of the game's background from prior previews. Judgment takes place before the events of the original Gears of War, and follows Lt. Damon Baird and Cole Augustus, future squad mates of Marcus Fenix and Dom. The game is set during the immediate aftermath of the Locust's first appearance on Emergence Day, and if the trailer is any indication, will mostly be about shooting them.
The game will also include class-based multiplayer, a series first. Two new multiplayer modes have been added, OverRun and Free-for-All, in addition to a return of domination.
Pre-order bonuses include Gears of War 2 or 3 at no additional cost at Wal-Mart; or a download code for the original game as well as the Classic Hammerburst weapon if ordered anywhere else.
As is the growing trend, the game will also feature a "VIP Season Pass" which will give players a permanent double XP boost, as well as early access to two upcoming expansions featuring six new multiplayer maps, two modes, five weapon skins, and four armor skins.
Gears of War: Judgment will launch exclusively on the Xbox 360 March 19 in the US and Australia. It will be released on the 21st in Japan and the 22nd in Europe. It was developed by Epic Games and People Can Fly.
