Most Nokia headlines have been given to the flagship smartphone Lumia 920, but according to figures, it is the Lumia 822 that has been outperforming the AT&T exclusive smartphone.
Similar to how the Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 smartphone is exclusive to AT&T, the Lumia 822 Windows Phone 8 smartphone is exclusive to Verizon Wireless.
According to AdDuplex, which touts itself as the "largest cross-promotion network for Windows Phone and Windows 8 apps empowering developers to advertise their apps for free by helping each other," their "Windows Phone Device Stats for March 2013" features various statistics on how Microsoft's mobile operating system is performing worldwide and within the U.S.
In the United States., it is the Verizon Wireless exclusive smartphone that is the leader among the Windows Phone devices. The Nokia Lumia 822 surpassed the Nokia Lumia 920 with 21 percent to 19 percent of the market share.
"We have a new leader phone in the U.S. It's Nokia Lumia 822 and if you combine its share with the other 820 variants the lead becomes even more impressive (29 percent U.S. Windows Phone market share)," posted Alan Mendelevich of AdDuplex.
Rounding out the top five of the Windows Phone devices in the United States is the HTC 8X, Lumia 900, and Lumia 710 with 14 percent, 9 percent, and 8 percent market share, respectively.
When it comes to worldwide Windows Phone devices, the Lumia 920 and Lumia 822 are not even in the top three. The Lumia 920 placed fourth with 11 percent while the Lumia 822 placed ninth. The top Windows Phone smartphone in the world is the Lumia 800 with 17 percent followed by the Lumia 710 and Lumia 610 with 15 percent and 14 percent, respectively.
According to AdDuplex, Nokia is the top manufacturer of the Windows Phone with a heavy 78.1 percent while HTC accounted for 14.6 percent and Samsung at 5.6 percent.
The Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 smartphone has a screen size of 4.5 inches, 32GB of internal storage with 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 3,264x2,448 pixels with LED flash, Bluetooth 4.0, an NFC chip, 2,000mAh battery capacity, and is available in black, gray, red, yellow and white color options.
The Lumia 822 features a screen size of 4.3 inches with an 800x480 pixel resolution and 217 pixels per inch, 16GB of internal storage with 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 3,264x2,448 pixels, front-facing 1.2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, NFC, 1,800 mAH battery capacity. The phone is available in black, gray, white, and red color options.
