The third entry in the Lost Planet series was originally set for an early 2013 release. However, Capcom has just announced that Lost Planet 3 will instead be arriving on June 25th in North America and June 28th in Europe.
To make up for the delay, the studio has released a new trailer for the game, revealing that players will encounter a new faction known as the "Snow Pirates." According to Capcom's official description, "while under attack from E.D.N. III’s indigenous Akrid, Jim’s Utility Rig falls down an icy fissure, leaving him unconscious and injured. Jim wakes to find himself in what appears to be a secret base, hidden beneath the planet’s frozen surface. On discovering he was rescued by one of the base’s inhabitants, Mira, the daughter of So’ichi (the Snow Pirate leader), he soon realizes that NEVEC are no longer the only occupants of E.D.N. III. With this encounter with the Snow Pirates new truths about the foreboding planet and the colonial history are set to be unveiled."
Pre-order incentives for the game have also been revealed. Players who pre-order Lost Planet 3 on Amazon will receive the Punisher Pack, which includes three unique weapons and two rig upgrades. Best Buy pre-orders will receive the Assault Pack, containing a different set of unique weapons and rig upgrades. Lastly, GameStop pre-orders will get the Freedom Fighter pack, which contains five unique multiplayer characters and two rig upgrades.
Lost Planet 3 was originally announced last April. It was developed by Spark Unlimited and is set before the events of the first game. The previous game in the series was released in 2010.
