Company of Heroes 2 has been delayed until June 25, according to developer Relic and publisher SEGA.
The game was slated for a March 12th release, but the closure of former publisher THQ threw the game's fate up into the air. When SEGA bought Relic from the bankrupt company, nothing was said about if and when the game would be released.
In a press release seen over at IGN, Relic is quoted as saying that, "Relic Entertainment is using the additional time to help Company of Heroes 2 meet the high standard set by its predecessor, the highest rated strategy game of all time."
Jonathan Dowdeswell added his two cents to the release, assuring fans disappointed with the over three months delay that it will ultimately benefit the game.
Executive Producer Jonathan Dowdeswell also added "We hate to disappoint our fans with a later than expected date as we know they are eager to play but we feel the additional time will help the team deliver the high quality sequel they deserve."
Relic and SEGA are also planning on having a closed beta for the game's multiplayer, however the details about the beta are currently unavailable.
The first Company of Heroes is one of the most critically acclaimed real-time stategy games of all time. Fans of the game have been waiting years for the sequel, as the original game came out back in 2006. While delays are never a good thing, with all the chaos that the THQ closure has brought to the developers under it, it should be expected that delays and cancellations like this will happen.
