Good news for all Verizon Galaxy S3 owners, you should now be getting your hands on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update. While the news of the update was leaked back in February, today finally marks the day that S3 owners start receiving the new operating system for their phones.

The update adds several new features to the phone, including being able to take a photo while in a call, improved Bluetooth support, better email sync, and a better predictive text engine for the keyboard. In addition, Verizon has added an Amazon app with the update, as well as the company's VZ Navigator App, in case you don't particularly feel like using Google Maps. Sadly, Premium Suite, and all of its nifty features, is not included in the update.

While this may not be a huge update, or the switch to the much coveted 4.2, at least Verizon has brought this update to S3 owners. Considering the company's reputation of taking some time to roll out updates, seeing the company release anything for its phones is always good news. Indeed, Galaxy Nexus owners are still waiting for an update to their phones (though tech savvy owners of the Galaxy Nexus can download an update to 4.2 if they so choose).

Website Android Authority lists the update to be about 150 MB in size. If you do not feel like waiting for Verizon to send you the update over the air, you can go into your phone's settings, go to about phone, and manually check for the update. No word yet on if and when Verizon plans to roll out a update to Android 4.2, but considering that the carrier has just released 4.1.2, it will be awhile before the phone gets another upgrade.
