iPhone 5S Release Date Rumors: August with 'Advanced Processor' and 'Improved Camera,' Say Reports

Reports are circulating daily about the iPhone 5's successor, from specs to release date.

The latest report about the smartphone likely named the iPhone 5S states the next Apple smartphone will feature the "same basic design" as the current fifth-generation iPhone. A different for the iPhone 5S is the smartphone will have a "more advanced processor and an improved camera."

"With the iPhone 5S, the aim is to once again raise the bar in terms of iPhone optics, including a much better camera in essentially the same casing. No huge surprises there, given the past history of S-class iPhones," reported Rene Ritchie of iMore.

In addition, the report states the iPhone 5S could see a summer release date, likely for August.

The latest speculation on the iPhone 5S matches the claims said by Chinese tech website EMSOne. The Chinese site stated an August 2013 release date as well.

Per usual, nothing is confirmed by Apple so far, but it hasn't and still doesn't stop analysts from pitching their own two cents to the topic.

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty explained about a new iPhone in the works but with the "Mini" name attached.

"We believe Apple could launch iPhone Mini at $330, in-line with flagship products in China from Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE and Coolpad," wrote Huberty in the note. "Even in a scenario of low 40 percent gross margin and 1/3 iPhone cannibalization rate (flattening legacy iPhone shipment growth), which we view as conservative, the iPhone Mini adds incremental revenue and gross profit dollars."

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster stated Apple is going to roll out a lower priced iPhone later this year. He noted an iPhone priced between $199 and $249 could make its debut in the September quarter, instead of the August debut reports.

Rumors of the next iPhone started briefly after the iPhone 5 launched last September. According to Jefferies analyst Peter Misek, the next iPhone will have one feature that was widely expected to be in the iPhone 5 - Near Field Communication (NFC).

Furthermore, Misek said the upcoming Apple smartphone will have "super HD camera/screen, a better battery, and NFC."

The Jefferies analysts predicted a June 2013 date, an idea which is not far-fetched as the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 made their debuts in the summer months of June and July, as Business Insider noted.
