People wishing to get their hands on Elder Scrolls Online will get a chance to play the beta of the game once it is released at the end of this month, according to Gamespot.
Bethesda announced that those chosen for the MMORPG beta will be notified via email soon. Those chosen will have to download the client for the beta, estimated to be around 20GB. Those chosen for the beta events will meet specific needs for the developer, and the company has stated that the group chosen will consist of a wide range of users, to better get a feel for the way the game plays on different PC's.
The beta events for the months of March and April will be smaller in scale, with bigger and broader events coming as the game gets closer to release. Beta testers will not get the whole of the continent of Tamriel available immediately, as Bethesda will focus on certain aspects of the game at first before letting players explore the whole of the virtual world. Those wishing to join the beta program can sign up at the game's website here.
The game will be set 1,000 years before the last game in the series, Skyrim. Players will be able to explore a wide range of locations from the past games of the series, such as Morrowind, Cyrodil, and the previously mentioned Skyrim. Players will have to fight through the demonic possession of the land by the daedric prince Molag Bal. The game is expected out by the end of 2013, though no official release date has been set. The game is expected to have a monthly subscription fee, but is expected to eventually become free to play. Look out for more news on the game as the beta gets underway.
