Beyond: Two Souls, the highly anticipated new PlayStation 3 from Quantic Dream, now has a release date and Academy Award nominee joining the voice cast. Beyond: Two Souls will be in stores October 8th, and Willem Dafoe has been announced as the voice of character of Nathan Dawkins.
Gamespot reports that Dafoe's character Nathan Dawkins is a scientist working for the government who helps Jodie Holmes, portrayed by fellow Academy Award nominee Ellen Page. Dafoe is known for his roles in Platoon, Shadow of the Vampire (both of which earned Dafoe Academy Award nominations), as well as playing the Green Goblin in the first Spiderman Trilogy.
Dafoe was first linked to the game when it was announced last year at E3, so this announcement does not surprise fans who have been following information about the game. Sony also has stated that people who pre-order the game at Gamestop will not only receive exclusive content (a 30 minute long bonus scene) but will automatically receive the special edition of the game. This includes the game's soundtrack, and dynamic theme, avatar items for the PlayStation Network, and behind the scenes video features. All this will be packaged together in a steelbook-style case.
Beyond: Two Souls is similar to Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain, in that players move characters through interactive cutscenes that play out like a movie. Main character Jodie Holmes has gained supernatural powers through a mysterious link with an unknown entity, and it is up to the player to guide her through the game. This highly anticipated game will be on many people's radars as we get closer to the game's release. We will have further information about the game as it is released.
