It appears that Ubisoft has had another leak in information concerning Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. This time, Ubisoft is the culprit responsible for releasing information about the game a bit earlier than they probably wanted. According to Ubergizmo, a bug on the game's countdown page allowed viewers to skip past that page and view the potential release date of October 29th.
Another big piece of news mistakenly revealed is that the game, currently confirmed for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U, will also be coming out for next-gen consoles. Viewers who go to the website will see a countdown for the premiere of the game's trailer in four day's time. The leak also promised gamers who pre-order the game an exclusive Todd McFarlane poster.
The game was a mere rumor earlier this week, as several sources reported on a piece of artwork revealing the title of the game, and that the game would be pirate themed. Yesterday, Ubisoft confirmed these rumors by revealing the box art for the game. It seems that Ubisoft may have an issue of security on their hands, as this is the second big reveal about the game that was not an official announcement by Ubisoft.
While gamers now have a probable release date, there are still many unknowns about the game. The Examiner is reporting that the protagonist of the game will be the grandfather of Assassin's Creed 3's Connor, Edward Kenway. The game will most likely be set in the early 1700's and in the Caribbean, a time and place associated with piracy in the western world. It will be interesting to see if Ubisoft sticks to the date revealed when they have the official premiere in four days, or if they report it as an error. We will be continuing coverage of this story as it develops.
