Samsung has released the source code for Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for it's Galaxy Note GT-N7000, despite having just started releasing it as an upgrade a few weeks ago to certain areas. Samsung has made the download available over at their Open Source Release Center for curious parties wishing to get the at the root of the upgrade sooner rather than later. The goal of this release is to allow ROM developers to get the most out of customizing their ROM for the device.
This comes just a week after the South Korean company began implementing the new operating system on to the smartphone, as reported by Sam Mobile. This new upgrade available will put Galaxy Note users on the same playing field as others who own the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S3, and the mini version of the S3, which already have gotten the upgrade.
The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update comes with a laundry list of new features for the smartphone. This includes Google Now, a new notification bar (and customizable notification panel), Samsung Cloud Service, Multi Windows Multitasking, and Page Buddy. This news comes shortly after is has been reported that the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 has been receiving the upgrade in international markets, as reported here, and recent reports that certain Sprint owners were unexpectedly receiving the update as well.
This is good news for those wishing for the latest features for their Galaxy Note, as now they will finally be able to enjoy those special features that S3 owners have had before them. After a long wait, it's finally here, and Samsung is certainly keeping owners of older popular handsets (Galaxy S2 included) feel relevant - even if it takes a while.
