Leap Motion, the new motion-control system that has many PC users eager to try out the innovative new device, has announced that they are now taking preorders on their Official Website and through BestBuy.com.
The controllers are available for $80, though anybody who has already preordered the device will be getting it for the slightly reduced price of $70. Those who preorder the controller will get it shipped to them on May 13th, while others wishing to buy the device will have to wait until the 19th of May to buy it.
Leap Motion will also launch an app store, coinciding with the launch of the device. The store will be called Airspace, which is taking offers from third party developers who wish to put their applications into the store. According to CNET, Leap Motion has already given out tens of thousands of development kits to developers, so there should be lots of support for the app store when it comes out. Already some big names have submitted apps to the project, ranging from Autodesk, The Weather Channel, Corel, and even Disney Interactive. The controller will also have some apps put on it by default, that Leap Motion feels feels compliment the device.
Leap Motion Controller is highly innovative, and is supposedly able to be accurate to the hundredth of an inch. Expectations are high for the device, as Leap Motion CEO Michael Buckwald is quoted as saying that the company wants to "make sure it lives up to everything [developers and customers] and we want it to be -- an immediately magical and transformative experience." We will be able to judge for ourselves the magic of the device when it is released in May.
