The jailbreaking era could be over if Apple's next iOS update has its way.
Earlier this month, evasi0n released a jailbreak into iOS devices. The result saw up to seven million devices broken in during short span. Most of the jailbroken devices were iPhones, followed by iPads, and then the iPod Touch.
Apple is reportedly working on the next iOS update, and if accurate could cease people having their device jailbroken.
The iOS 6.1.3 is currently in beta form and one of evasi0n's creators found the upcoming update - which have been distributed to developers - fix five bugs that jailbreak exploits.
Evasi0n's David Wang told Forbes that the beta update might signal the end in evasion's hacking. He added he is still testing the patch if other vulnerabilities created by the jailbreak still function post-update.
"If one of the vulnerabilities doesn't work, evasi0n doesn't work," Wang said. "We could replace that part with a different vulnerability, but [Apple] will probably fix most if not all of the bugs we've used when 6.1.3 comes out."
Wang predicts the new iOS update will be released in another month following beta testing, but assured it doesn't mean evasi0n's time is up.
The beta form of iOS 6.1.3 comes right after version 6.1.2 was released to fix a bug found on Microsoft Exchange, which ultimately led to increased network activity and battery and data drainage.
