It's finally here. After a botched release around Christmas last year, it looks like Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx owners will be getting their official taste of Jelly Bean before Q1 2013 ends.
Motorola has come out with a new timetable listing a number of devices and when certain Android updates will hit them. Among those listed are the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx, two of the first Motorola Droid devices to hit Verizon's network. After a long wait, it looks like Android Jelly Bean is finally arriving for the handsets.
The news will come as a welcome update for many Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx owners who got teased on Christmas Eve a couple months ago. For whatever reason, Verizon began rolling out Android 4.1.2, and then realized the update was premature and it. Some owners were stuck mid-download, and many others were simply too late to join the party. After much clamoring, it looks like Motorola has decided to comment on the issue, although remember this is a Motorola statement, not a Verizon one, and since Verizon will ultimately be the one to put the update OTA, it would be prudent not to hold your breath.
For those whose devices were marred by the accidental rollout, Android 4.1.2 has been rooted. Dan Rosenberg, a well known rooter of Motorola devices, released the root last month, and with the help of a Windows PC, users can get their device running smoothly.
Keep an eye out for this update through the Droid RAZR's or Droid RAZR Maxx's software settings, it shouldn't be more than a month if Motorola is right.
