Major League Gaming has just announced the details of the League of Legends portion of their Winter Season Championship. $30,000 is on the line as up and coming teams compete for the money, glory, and a chance to qualify for even bigger events.

The first event on the radar is the North American Summer Promotion Qualifier, which will take place later this month. The competition will feature 16 teams: the top 12 Challenger Tier teams, as well as the top 4 teams from the MLG Rising Stars Invitational. Those 16 will compete in a white knuckle, single elimination tournament. Select matches from the event will be broadcast at www.majorleaguegaming.com.

The four teams who survive will receive all expenses paid trips to Dallas, where they'll battle it out live at the MLG Winter Championship for $30,000 in prizes. This event will take place on March 15 - 17, and will also host an International Exhibition Tournament and Season Three League Championship Series matches.

The international event may just be a exhibition, but the stakes are still high; four of the world's top teams will be competing for $15,000. The participating teams will be announced towards the end of the month.

The Season Three showcase will feature eight teams from the North American LCS bracket competing in three matches each. Tickets for the entire event are available here, but if you can't make it down to Texas to see the action, all of Winter Championship events will be streamed live on the MLG website,

It's an exciting time to be a fan of eSports, especially League of Legends. Last year, Taiwan's Taipei Assassins defeated South Korea's Azubu Frost in the finals of the Season 2 World Championship, taking home $1 million in prize money. That's a huge sum of money, and with the game only getting more popular, this year's competitions will be even fiercer.
