Good news for people who are waiting with bated breath for the new Xperia Z throughout the world. Sony's handset has already arrived in Japan, and now we know the release date for Finalnd, as well as the first carriers in Ireland for the device and pricing details for these and other countries.
In Ireland and Finland, according to Android Geeks, customers will be among the first European countries to get the Xperia Z. They'll both be getting the device on February 28.
O2 will be the first carrier in Ireland to offer the Xperia Z, but Xperia fever has already struck the country and pre-orders are already closed - their entire stock of pre-order Xperia Zs have already been claimed. In Ireland, the Xperia Z will sell for €189 with a contract, €579 for Xperia Z handsets without a SIM.
In Finland, users will be getting the Xperia Z on the same date, but there is no information on how much the devices will cost with a carrier contract discount. Gigantti and Verkkokauppa are launching the Xperia Z for the full price of €740 and €730, respectively.
Australia will be getting the Xperia Z a little later - sometime in March - but we do have specific pricing information for the contract-free Xperia Z. It should be starting at about $AU 700.
Already released in Japan, the Sony Xperia Z is the first exciting entry to the smartphone market by Sony in a while. The device will be powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 2GB Ram, with a 5-inch display capable of 1080p high definition resolution. It also looks to be a high-powered camera phone, with a 13-megapixel camera that is capable of very nice low-light videography and functionable even when dunked in water.
