Only a few weeks after its last Nintendo Direct conference that emphasized the Wii U, the Big N has taken time to address the 3DS's upcoming titles to its fans. During the first half of the conference President Satoru Iwata wore a Luigi cap and emphasized that 2013 would be "the year of Luigi" while he announced a number of major titles on their way for the portable console.
Among them is the return of the Mario & Luigi RPG series. A new entry "Mario & Luigi: Dream Team" is slated for release this summer. Iwata also noted that a new DLC package will be made available for the Wii U title "New Super Mario Bros. U;" the DLC will be called "Super Luigi U." In addition to the new announced titles, the plumber will be featured in his own title "Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon." That 3DS title will launch on March 24.
Iwata also revealed that a new "Donkey Kong Returns 3D" title would appear on the handheld console. The franchise returned to its 2D side-scrolling roots in 2010 with "Donkey Kong Returns." According to Nintendo, "the smash-hit Wii game is getting a portable 3D makeover." There is no news on whether this version will include the different content from the Wii version. The new Donkey Kong title will also be released this summer.
Other announced titles included the "Mario Golf: World Tour 3DS" and "Animal Crossing: New Leaf." "Mario Golf" will be released in the summer while "Animal Crossing" will launch on June 9th in North America and June 14 in Europe.
Finally, Iwata announced a few titles that will be released on the 3DS eShop. They include "HarmoKnight," "Kersploosh!," "Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move!," "Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger," "Harvest Moon," and "Legend of the River King."
