"Django Unchained' won its fourth straight box office overseas and became the highest grossing film for writer-director Quentin Tarantino.
"Django" raked in $19.5 million from 65 markets during the weekend of Feb. 8 - 10 and brought foreign intake to approximately $187.7 million. The film has scored $154.5 million in domestic gross and now has a total of $342.2 million worldwide; Tarantino's previous effort "Inglorious Basterds" held the record with $321.5 million. "Django" is now the 224th highest grossing film worldwide of all time. To crack the top 200, the film needs to take in an addition $20 million to pass the 2002 film "Planet of the Apes" which grossed $362 million.
In second place worldwide was Disney's "Wreck-It Ralph." The film brought in $11.7 million, mainly due to its recent release in the United Kingdom where it made $7.1 million in its first weekend. The film has now raked in of $207.5 million internationally and is slated to pass the $400 million mark worldwide in coming days. The film currently sits in 168th place for the highest grossing films world wide of all time but is unlikely to obtain the total of $524 million that it would need to reach the top 100 highest grossing films of all time.
"Hansel and Gretel: With Hunters" brought in $11.7 million during the weekend as well and has only raked in $83.6 million worldwide. "A Good Day to Die Hard" obtained an advanced release in seven Asian markets and opened to $10.4 million. The film is slated for release on Feb. 15 across the United States.
Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" took in $10.4 million worldwide, including a solid $1.8 million in Australia. Tom Hooper's "Les Miserables" added $10 million to its international gross of $215 million. The film has now earned $359 million worldwide and still has to open in France, Germany, Mexico, and China.
