For those of you who procrastinate until the last minute to put together a Valentines Day date, technology is here to help you! Here's a list of a few apps that will make your last minute planning look like a week of preparation.
It's standard to take your sweetheart out to dinner on Valentines day, but how do you make a reservation with so little time left? OpenTable will help. This simple-to-use app will help you find and book local restaurants for that special night. It has over 13,000 OpenTable-friendly restaurants to choose from in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and some cities in other places. You can search by neighborhood, cuisine, search for a restaurant, or by price range. Choose a place, and OpenTable will make reservations for you. The app is for iOS and Android.
Perhaps you want to do something a little more than just dinner and flowers, but don't have enough time to come up with a quirky idea. Use BeCouply, which is part date idea-generator and part online scrapbook. BeCouply generates date ideas like a Twitter feed, along with announcements for concerts and events, to help you find that unique date for your Valentine. The downsides are that you must Facebook connect to use the app, and it's only for iOS right now.
Don't just buy a bland card from the drug store and sign it - create a personalized card, without the glue, glitter, and scissors, with Red Stamp. Red stamp allows you to make personalized cards, using templates and themes, with your iPhone and send them via email, text message, Facebook or Twitter. You can also mail out a paper version for $2, but you've already passed the point where it'll get to your Valentine in time. The app is for iOS only.
What's there to say? 1-800 Flowers is a pretty standard service for getting flowers to your loved one. With this app, you can order flowers on-the-go. On top of that, the app has a "Find a Gift Fast" button at the top, offering same-day flower delivery from local florists. Take a minute with this app and you'll be checking this necessary Valentine's gift off your list. The app is for Android and iOS.
If you don't have a date for Valentines Day, or your date's plans suddenly - um... - changed, there's still hope for an eventful Valentines Day. OKCupid, the dating site, has set up a new smartphone app where you create a profile including your name, age, sexual orientation, local meeting spots, and the nights that you'll be free, and the app sets you up on a blind date. The app is for iOS and Android. Check out our write-up about the app for more information.
