As the Microsoft Windows Phone 7.8 update has been rolling out to Nokia Lumia phones, such as the Nokia Lumia 900, some users are reporting a few bugs and other issues with their devices.
With the Nokia Lumia 900 handsets, which were part of the update, users reported that the Windows Phone 7.8's Live Tile user interface was getting buggy. Live Tiles for third-party applications seem to be getting stuck in refresh mode if that application's server is not responsive, running down data and battery power, according to MobileBloom. The rate at which carrier data is wasted can get up to 1MB per minute with this bug - a rate that any consumer will get frustrated with.
The Live Tiles can get frozen after update failure, leading to non-responsive user interfaces. According to PhonesReview, a user named Paul Katz wrote on WMPoweruser about how his Lumia 900 pretty much had his whole screen frozen, after all of his app Live Tiles went rigid one by one.
Lumia 800 phones have also been having problems with their volume controls, with many 800 users complaining to Nokia about needing to crank up their volume level to double the normal level for any music to be audible. This problem seems to be happening to the newer Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 models too, which run Windows Phone 8.
The Windows Phone 7.8 operating system update was rolled out at the end of January, as we previously reported. The update featured more color customization options, a new lockscreen wallpaper option to set the Bing Image of the Day in the background, and Live Tile resizing options. The update went out to Nokia Lumia models 510,610, 710, 800, and 900.
