Evidence is piling up in favor of the new HTC flagship device being called the HTC One, and not the M7. Also, a recently leaked image from a reliable HTC source on Twitter shows a possible photo of the new device.
First, the name. Over the last week or so, HTC watchers have been speculating that the device will be branded with the name "One," ever since @evleaks leaked the name change. That's the same Twitter user who leaked the most recent (possible) images of the new device.
Since then, various independently sourced leaks have given us evidence to bolster the idea of name change. A video leaked from the HTC Year End Party with Peter Chou leading employees in a chant of "HTC - M7" before changing the chant to "HTC One!"
Then an image appeared on Flickr yesterday, with the identification name of the source device appearing as "HTC One."
Now there's another piece of evidence in favor of the rumored name change. The new name has been spotted in a user agent profile, which also provides a screen resolution spec of 1920x1080p, which is right in line with the previously named HTC M7. Of course, the uaprofile that leaked was a screenshot, so there's always a chance that it's photo-shopped.
Speaking of chances of being photo-shopped, the new leaked image from @evleaks seems to provide evidence for one theory of what the HTC One will look like over another. The image, at top, matches the first render of the HTC One (M7) that @evleaks put out, but since then, there have been other images of the One (M7), which look completely different
The @evleaks images make the One look a lot like an iPhone, while the other images have the HTC looking a lot more like other HTC models like the HTC Droid DNA. It could be a prototype/production model situation, and there's a chance that the One will have two different models, perhaps for different markets. And there's always a chance that photoshop was in used at some point.
We'll find out soon enough, as HTC will be unveiling the One on February 19 in NYC and London. Keep checking with us for updates until then.
