The jailbreaking season on Apple's devices are open and in big numbers.

According to Forbes, seven million iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch owners have broken into Apple's usual restrictions. The jailbreak have been made possible by Evasion as of last Monday morning. Cydia, the app store for jailbroken devices, reported that in four days 5.15 million iPhones, 1.35 million iPads, and 400,000 iPod Touches jailbroken their devices with evasion.

"Smart phones have become more and more popular, but they've maintained a closed experience that makes it difficult for people to get what they want," said Cydia Administrator Jay Freeman, via Forbes. "Therefore people have needed to turn to jailbreaking to fill the gap."

With that noted, why is jailbreaking the iOS 6 an option?

John Paul Titlow of ReadWrite  listed "12 Really Good Reasons to Jailbreak iOS 6 Right Now." He noted the process will take less than an hour and the legalities of the process. Jailbreaking the iPhone or iPod Touch is fine but it appears to be illegal for the iPad based on DMCA rules.

Reason one, according to Titlow, is the ability to rename apps and adjust the app icon sizes.

Reason five explained about the customization of the iOS.

"Apple does a pretty nice job of polishing the way its mobile OS looks, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have the option to change its appearance," wrote Titlow. "Jailbreaking lets you do things like change the logo that appears when the device boots (vintage rainbow Apple logo anyone?), change the lock screen design or overhaul the entire theme. If you ever wanted iOS to look like Android, now's your chance."

Fans took to the web to explain their reasons on why to or not to jailbreak:

TDoonanII001 (via Gizmodo): "I am seriously considering this, but I had such a bad experience last time I did a jailbreak, very unstable, kept locking up, apps crashed a good bit, etc. But this sounds like it might be worthwhile. I only really want SBSettings so I can get to Wifi quickly."

BungleJungle (via Gizmodo): "I jailbroke mine the first day, having done it with my previous 4S. Gotta say, though, that I'm less than impressed. The process itself is great, big improvement, but I was quickly reminded what a mess Cydia is, and there are very few things I used to use that work with iOS 6."

Techspit (via CNET): "The amount of customization you can do is mind blowing, believe me the jailbreak is much, much more than just the potential for free apps, downloading Pandora music, and other piracy hacks."

Dnrbnx (via CNET): "Herein lies the inherent problem of jailbreaking an iPhone. You are dependent upon Cydia to support you. I had a jailbroken iPhone 3, 3G, and 4. I've since gone to Android and enjoyed it more stock than any of my jailbroken iPhones. Is the iPhone a great product? Yes. Is it needlessly controlled? Absolutely. I refuse to bother with a company that is so futilely battling a community they should be embracing."
