After having been MIA for a couple months, the much sought-after Google-branded LG Nexus 4 smartphone is beginning to hit retailers at an unprecedented pace. There are now several places where you can pick one up, here's where.
The first stop for many will be the Google Play store, which is finally listing the Nexus 4 as being in stock. We reported earlier that Google had changed the status from "out of stock" to "temporarily out of stock," and now potential buyers can finally add the handset to their cart, check out, and expect the device on their doorstep in 1-2 weeks. The 8GB unlocked model runs $299.99, and the 16GB variant will set you back $349.99.
A quick look at n4checker.com shows that Google Play US, Google Play UK, and Google Play Germany stores are the only ones in stock now. All three stores list ship times of 1-2 weeks.
For those looking to grab one with a two-year contract, T-Mobile, Best Buy, and Wirefly all offer the Nexus 4 with a contract, and without. Unlocked prices run higher through these retailers, so it's still a better bet to use Google Play unless you really need that contract. Canadians can now buy one through Videotron.
It seems that Google and LG have finally worked out some of the kinks in the Nexus 4 supply chain. Both Google and LG took to blaming each other for the supply shortages, with Google accusing LG of miscommunication, and LG stating that Google simply ordered too few units. Either way, the handset is now available through enough retailers that potential purchasers should be able to easily snag one. There's no telling how long these supplies will last, and whether there will be another inventory drought soon, so hurry - you can never tell.
