Following apple's announcement of the 128 GB iPad 4, Sprint confirmed it would carry the new, improved capacity tablets.
"Sprint is delighted to confirm that we will be offering our customers additional iPad options with the new 128GB iPad with Retina display," said Fared Adib, senior vice president of Product Development at Sprint, according to iMore.
While there's no official word on how much the new tablets will cost, Apple is fairly rigorous in standardizing its pricing across vendors, so expect the 128 GB wifi-only iPad to run $799, and the 128 GB wifi/cellular version to run $929, a $100 premium over the 64 GB models.
Apple announced the larger capacity tablets on Tuesday in a press release. "Apple today announced a 128GB version of the fourth generation iPad with Retina display," said the release. "The new 128GB versions of the fourth generation iPad will be available starting Tuesday, February 5, in black or white, for a suggested retail price of $799 (US) for the iPad with Wi-Fi model and $929 (US) for the iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular model."
The upgrade comes just a few months after the release of the iPad 4 in November of 2012. That, in turn, came out just eight months after the 3rd generation iPad, so consumers may want to be wary about shelling out $700 for a new tablet, when rumors of the iPad 5 are already circulating. A release date is pending, but Apple turnover rate has been blinding, lately.
