Yesterday, Nokia announced Music+, a paid version of Nokia Music. Nokia is really giving their Lumia series a boost with this new Nokia Lumia-only premium service.
According to Nokia's release, the subscription service will cost $3.99, and bring a bunch of new and advanced app options for Nokia Music. That's less than half the cost of Spotify Premium, and Nokia's Music+ has many of the same features.
Mobile App
First of all, you have to pay for Spotify Premium if you want to listen to streaming music on your mobile device, while the Nokia Lumia's basic (and free) Music service comes included with Lumias. With both paid subscription models, you get unlimited skips on radio tracks.
Offline Music
Spotify Premium allows you to download songs for an offline instant queue that you can sync with your smartphone, so that even when you're not in any data stream, you can still listen to your favorite tracks. Nokia Music allowed that, but only in four space-limited Mixes (playlists). Music+ removes the limit, matching Spotify Premium's offline offering.
High Quality
Both Spotify Premium and Nokia's Music+ up the quality of their music (and the size of the music files) over their free counterparts. Music+ boasts that it's eight times the audio quality of Nokia's free music app.
Music On-the-Stay
Spotify Premium (as well as free Spotify), has a great desktop version that's native to Mac and PC. With Spotify, you can listen to their library for free with some commercial interruptions. The premium model eliminates ads. Nokia Lumia's Music service works in the opposite direction. For the first time with Music+, the paid subscription version of Music, you access music on your desktop or laptop, but through a web-browser app only.
Other Considerations
Nokia Music+ offers a nifty lyrics feature, giving you access to either scrolling Karaoke-style lyrics with the song, or in a separate display. Spotify offers this, but only through a couple lyrics apps. however, that point out a Spotify feature: third-party apps that you can plug in to enhance your Spotify music player. Also, though the Nokia Lumia's Music+ library boasts a healthy 18 million tracks, Spotify still has a deeper and broader library, with 20 million songs.
Will you be giving Nokia's Music+ a shot?
