By the end of the 2013 Farmer's Insurance Open, people may say the only thing that stopped Tiger Woods was the fog. Woods is six shots ahead of the field with 11 holes to go on Monday at Torrey Pines.
Woods is 3-under through his first seven holes of the final round, which was postponed Sunday due to rain and fog on the course. In his three-plus rounds in La Jolla, Woods is 17-under par, with last year's champion Brandt Snedeker and Nick Watney each tied in second place with 11-under scores. Snedeker is already through 13 holes, while Watney has completed eight.
The resumption of round four will begin at 12:50 pm EST, while Woods will tee off at 3:10 pm.
The United States has eight of the nine players in the top five, including all five golfers tied for fifth. Only Canada's Brad Fritsch (9-under, fourth place) not a U.S. native. Americans also comprise four of the other six players in the top ten.
The 65 Woods shot in the second round is tied for the lowest total in any round this year. He shot a 68 in the opening round and 69 in the most recent completed day of play.
K.J. Choi, who was tied for the lead after the first day, is tied for 16th with a 6-under overall score and nine more holes to play. Vijay Singh is tied for 26th at 4-under. Phil Mickelson has a +2 score and is tied for 72nd place. Rory McIlroy, who signed an endorsement deal with Nike earlier this month, did not participate in the tournament. He did not make the cut in the HCBS Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, the last event he competed in and his first with all Nike clubs.
