After a 7-under performance on Friday, Tiger Woods is in the lead at the Farmer's Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. His two-day total of 11-under is tops in the competition by two strokes. The first round leaders, K.J. Choi and Brandt Snedeker (last year's winner) are five and seven strokes behind Woods, respectively.
Woods tees off with second-place Billy Horschel and third-place Casey Wittenberg at 9:40 am, starting on the first hole of the South Course.

Woods has ended his weekend at Torrey Pines as the champ six previous times. His first victory in 1999 was a record-setting performance for the then-24-year old, as he tied the course low of 22-under.
Tiger won again in 2002 with a 16-under 266, and won four times in a row between 2005 and 2008. In his most recent victory at Torrey Pines, Woods approached 20-under again, missing by one stroke. Only Woods and Phil Mickelson have come within five of Tiger's record since it was set in the last century.
The winner of the Farmers Insurance Open will bank $1,098,000. The TV coverage is on the Golf Channel on Friday and CBS on Saturday.

In his 17-year career, Woods has been first on the earnings list nine times and in the top five on five more occasions. The only three years he wasn't in the top five were his rookie season in 1996 and the two calendar years following his fallout with ex-wife Elin Nordegren.
Woods has not won a Major Tournament since 2008 at the U.S. Open. His separation from Nordegren began in 2009. The closest Woods came to winning one was in the PGA Championship that year, when he placed second. That was two months before the incident over Thanksgiving in which Woods fled his house after Nordegren discovered he had been cheating.
