It's definitely drawing near. After what seems like an eternity, dotted with false hopes, Galaxy Note owners should begin seeing Jelly Bean roll out soon. Samsung UK has now updated their online support manual to include Android 4.1 and Premium Suite features, meaning it can't be too far off.
The online manual for the Samsung Galaxy Note model GT-N7000 now contains information regarding some of the new additions from Samsung's Premium Suite upgrade. The Premium Suite upgrade brings the option of using Multi Window, which allows for two apps to run simultaneously on screen, and other new features previously only found on the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3. Included is Jelly Bean, as the manual mentions Google Now, a voice assistant that makes its debut in Android 4.1. Expect the update to improve S Pen functionality as well.
When exactly the update will be rolled out is still unknown. Canadian carrier Telus recently released an Android update schedule in which Galaxy Notes on its network are slated to receive Jelly Bean in Feb. 2013. While some regions around the world may receive it earlier, most markets should be able to mark February as the month that Android 4.1 arrives on the original phablet that started it all.
U.S. Galaxy Note owners with locked handsets will most likely have to wait a little longer. U.S. carriers, especially Verizon, are notorious for releasing Android updates later than most, and with newer devices receiving most of the attention, there's a good chance that this trend will hold true.
Of course, you can always scour the Internet for some ROMS if you can't wait, but with the official release imminent, you might as well wait for the OTA rollout.
