You'll be able to download long-time Rockstar Games favorite, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, straight to your PlayStation 3 starting Tuesday of next week. That should hold players over until Grand Theft Auto 5 is released.
According to the publisher's blog, Rockstar Newswire, the GTA game, set in a city that resembles Miami in the 80s, will come to the PlayStation Network store in the United States for $9.99.
"Ever since the releases of San Andreas for PSN and Vice City for iOS and Android, we've received more than a few requests from the community wondering when they'd be able to touch down at Escobar International and return to the neon-lit streets and sun-splashed shores of Ocean Beach on their PS3s," said Rockstar Games on their blog. "Today, we can confirm that it won't be long now..."
Originally released for PlayStation 2, PC, and Xbox on October 29th, 2002, Vice City was an instant hit. The fourth incarnation of the Grand Theft Auto franchise and the sequel to the revolutionary 3D third-person open world game GTA III, Vice City was the first game in the series to be set in a specific time and place, giving the game a memorable style, soundtrack, and star.
The protagonist, Tommy Vercetti, was a mobster character mix of Scarface and Goodfellas, and was voiced by Ray Liotta. Vercetti wreaked havoc on Vice City as he moved up in the criminal underground, amidst the humid, bleeding neon lights of Vice City's night clubs and the hazy tropical days recklessly driving by the waterfront. When driving in the game, players could listen to a half-dozen radio stations with a dozen songs each, amounting to a huge and memorable 80s-themed soundtrack for the game.
Europeans will have to wait until the 30th for their Vice City PSN fix.
