Temple Run 2 is now available for download on Android and Kindle devices. After being released for iPhones last week, the iOS version of the sequel quickly became the number one free app on the App Store.

Imangi Studios is following up on their success last week by releasing Temple Run 2 on the Google Play Store and the Amazon marketplace today. The sequel to the highly addictive and never-ending runner, Temple Run, features similar gameplay as the original, but with a few tweaks.

Temple Run 2 features high resolution graphics with beautiful sunset-style lighting effects, as well as new obstacles, character abilities, and achievements. The endless runner also updates the gameplay with new curvy paths and hills and valleys. Players can now glide down zip lines and pilot mine carts in certain parts of the game. Some of the original aspects still remain, though, keeping fans of the first Temple Run happy: the protagonist is still running away from demonic temple-dwellers after stealing their idol.

"Last year we saw so much enthusiasm from the Temple Run community when we expanded the original game to more mobile platforms," said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios. "With Temple Run 2, we are thrilled to be able to follow up with the Android version so quickly after the App Store debut, and hope that fans of the game are just as excited about it as we are," said Shepherd in a release by Imangi Studios.

It's safe to say that iOS fans were excited about it, and Android users are likely to take to it quickly. Last week, after being on the Apple App Store for only four days, Temple Run 2 hit the top of the free app category and was downloaded over 20 million times. As we reported earlier, in that first week, players collectively played through 210 million sessions, equaling 1,775 years of gameplay in total.
