Samsung Galaxy S2 owners have had to endure numerous delays while waiting for thei Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, but that looks like it has all finally changed. Reports are coming in that Jelly Bean has started hitting some international Galaxy S2 handsets.
Samsung is apparently rolling out Android 4.1.2 for the Galaxy S2 model GT-I9100. As of now, it seems that only lucky Galaxy S2 owners in Spain are receiving the update. Android updates tend to roll out in batches, and vary in release times across regions, so be sure to check in often to see if your area has started receiving it.
You can visit SamMobile for a real-time updated list of where the Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean update is available.
This, as usual, doesn't apply to those with carrier-tied Galaxy S2s. Instead, expect wireless networks to take their time stuffing the update with the usual bloatware nonsense before rolling it out. In some cases, this can take months (Verizon customers know this well), so it's best not to hold your breath if you are waiting for Android 4.1.
The Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S2 brings all the usual bells and whistles such as Google Now and Project Butter alongside some special Samsung additions like S Cloud. The Galaxy S2 will also get the new Nature UX TouchWiz interface, the same one found on the Galaxy S3.
If you absolutely can't wait, there are always firmwares to grab - but be warned, if you aren't sure what you're doing, it's best to wait for the official release to hit your region. If you do decide to give a ROM a shot, don't forget to back up your device.
