It's been pretty obvious from the start - Elder Scrolls needed to go online. The massively-open-world RPG franchise has garnered millions of fans along its evolution, and given it's gameplay mechanics, it's only natural to place gamers side by side. Now, after a long wait, it looks like The Elder Scrolls Online has finally started taking signups for some closed-beta testing.
To sign up and participate in Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls Online closed beta, you can do so here.
Don't forget to use your regular gaming rig, since the sign up asks prospective beta testers to post their specs, PC or Mac, for a quick diagnostic to see if the game will run properly. Those who want a better chance at getting selected, should follow Bethesda's advice:
"Completing all the optional sections will significantly increase your chances of being selected for beta participation."
Keep in mind there's still no concrete date for when the closed beta will start nor is there any information on whether beta participants will be able to carry over their achievements to the final product.
Alongside this much-anticipated announcement, Bethesda decided to give us a beautiful video clip. Sadly, it doesn't give us much specifics.
The Elder Scrolls Online will mark a significant departure from previous installments since action will be more third-person oriented. Other than that, expect the same kind of dungeon-crawling, skeleton-slaying, loot-hoarding, skill-padding experience any MMO offers. The main difference between this and any of the other MMOs out there? This is Elder Scrolls, which means that before you know it, you've invested 60 hours in a game as a vampire fiend with a penchant for redecorating his house.
