Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx owners on Verizon's network got the short end of the stick when Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean was accidentally released around Christmas Eve last year, raising hopes. Those who weren't able to nab the update in time before it got pulled off the air can now rejoice - Android 4.1.2 has been rooted.

Courtesy of various reports from around the Internet, it has come to our attention that Dan Rosenberg, aka @djrbliss, has rooted Android 4.1.2 for the Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx. This is welcome news to those who were left without a root after Verizon stopped the rollout of the Jelly Bean update almost immediately after its outing on Christmas Eve.

Rosenberg has rooted an incredible amount of Motorola devices in the past, so expect this to be a good one. It's also the first Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx root out there, so if you're hungry for Jelly Bean, it's just about the best way to go about it, and you can always head over to XDA for any necessary files.

To grab the update, Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx owners can head over to DroidRZR and download the root files. The process will only work with the help of a Windows PC.

Android 4.1.2 is not the latest version of Jelly Bean, which is actually 4.2, but will be the first Jelly Bean iteration for the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR. Weighing in at around 300MB, the upgrade will introduce Google Now, a voice assistant that acts like Apple's Siri, and improve system performance with Project Butter.

Let us know if you have Android 4.1.2 up and running on your Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR or RAZR Maxx and what you think of it.
