Images of what the iPhone 5 could look like have leaked onto the internet. The images obtained by 9to5mac.com display the front and back side of a smartphone that looks similar in shape to the iPhone 4S but recognizably larger.
Images of the front side of device display a significantly larger screen than the 4S and a significantly smaller dock connector. Also, the front facing camera seems to have been slightly moved towards the center of the phone. The signature home button remains unchanged as well as the volume and mute buttons.
Based on the images, the back side of the phone seems to have undergone more transformation than the front. The images show what looks like a metallic panel covering most of the back side of the phone stopped by glossy strips of white. The back facing camera is pushed to the upper left hand corner and it seems that the headphones jack has moved to the bottom of the phone as opposed to the top, first time Apple does that.
If the images do portray what the next iPhone will look like, then it sure does follow Apple's personality of going modest on changes from one version to another.

The display could easily measure 4 inches and the overall size of the device seems to be that of a Samsung Galaxy S3.
9to5Mac commented on the photos saying the following:
"It appears that the metal antenna band is molded into the metal backplates. We assume this is Apple's way of creating a unibody enclosure for mobile devices. Apple introduced unibody notebooks in late 2008, and the purpose of the unibody is to allow Apple to produce thinner and lighter, yet stronger, devices."
The images obtained were of high resolution and it showed the device in black and in white.
Rumors circling the internet say that the iPhone 5 will be released during the fall of 2012.
