Perhaps Trump is doing everything in his power to rouse Latino voters into voting against him in his latest rounds of neglectful commentary.
Although not spoken out loud, a tweet can resonate louder than words. A tweet retweeted by Donald Trump Wednesday night, did just that.
The GOP presidential candidate retweeted an image of Jeb Bush in a sombrero and a swastika along with the caption: "ADIOS JEB, AKA JOSE" to his 4.7 million followers. The message was originally sent by the account @Life&Liberty aka @AndreaWeslien. The message has since been deleted, but not before critics got a-hold of it.
The 140-character message has definitely raised eyebrows in light of Trump's previous controversial statements towards the Latino community. In the past, Trump has said Mexico sends its rapists, drug dealers, and criminals to the U.S.
National Hispanic group leaders say actions like these are exactly why they plan to protest the luxury realtor's guest host appearance on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 7.
"He keeps pushing the envelope so that the more that people find his comments acceptable, the more he pushes outwardly on those issues. He presses those buttons even harder," said Felix Sánchez, founder of National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts (NHFA).
As NBC News points out, the tweet may have caused a firestorm taking into account Jeb Bush speaks fluent Spanish and has used it in his campaign - something Trump has criticized before. In addition, his wife Columba is Mexican.
On Monday, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus asked "Saturday Night Live" and NBC Universal to "disinvite" Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump from hosting SNL on Nov 7.
NHFA along with National Council of La Raza, National Hispanic Media Coalition, the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, America's Voice, the League of United Latin American Citizens and the National Institute for Latino Policy plan to protest outside of 30 Rockefeller Center, where SNL is filmed. "Other national groups like MoveOn.org and Justice League, as well as local groups, are also participating. The groups have stated they are bringing more than 460,000 signatures of people asking SNL and NBC to rescind its invitation of Trump," reports NBC News.
Trump's spokeswoman has since said the retweet was an accident.
"This was retweeted by Mr. Trump like hundreds of others. He did not see the accompanying image and the retweet has since been deleted," spokeswoman Hope Hicks.
