Former "Today" co-host Katie Couric is speaking more on Ann Curry's dismissal from the NBC morning show.

Speaking to the Philly Inquirer, Couric stated she felt "terrible" for what happened to Curry.

"I felt really bad for Ann. I still don't understand why they didn't give her sort of a proper send-off," she added.

Couric is responding to the fact NBC didn't play a tribute montage to Curry as done for previous co-hosts such as Meredith Veira and Couric herself.

Couric stated Curry did some "extraordinary work" during her time with the morning show.

"It was just not the best chapter in the "Today" show. It made me sad for the institution," she added.

Couric served as co-host from 1991 to 2006. She stepped down from the show to anchor the "CBS Evening News."

This isn't the first time Couric speaks on Curry's departure, as Latinos Post reported in July, she stated she felt "heartbroken" on the morning Curry announced her withdrawal from the morning show on June 28.

"I think Ann has done an incredible job reporting and traveling around the world and bringing some of the far-off stories that are not covered quite enough. I think she'll go on to great things," Couric said last month. "You don't like to see someone disappointed but I really am confident she'll do great things and land on her feet."

Curry was reported to be fired as ratings for "Today" slipped to second place, behind ABC's "Good Morning America." Fellow co-anchor Matt Lauer has also been blamed for wanting Curry out during contract negotiations. Curry was replaced by Savannah Guthrie. Ratings for "Today" have not rebounded to first place since, except for a small period during the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

Couric is making the media rounds as she promotes her new daytime talk show "Katie" on ABC. Some of her first guests include Barbra Streisand, Chelsea Handler, and "Fifty Shades of Grey" author E.L. James. "Katie" launches on Sept. 10.
