It's been reported that the power couple that is Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will only have interviews with Ann Curry if NBC one day decides to have a sit down with them.
According to Radar Online, Jolie reached out to Curry and said the veteran journalist will be the only reporter for the NBC morning show to interview them.
A source tells Radar, "Angelina reached out to Ann Curry after she was fired from her gig on the TODAY show and was very clear, if ANY news program from NBC wants an interview with her, or Brad, Ann will be the only one to do it."
The source added that Jolie has "tremendous" respect for Curry due to her work in raising awareness to the situation in Darfur.
"Their working relationship [around Darfur] has developed into a friendship, and it meant the world to Ann that Angelina had reached out to her," said the source. "Angelina made it clear to Ann that no one from the current Today show cast would get an interview with Angelina or Brad, and with rumors of an upcoming wedding for the couple, NBC will lose any interviews with the actors in the future if Ann isn't allowed to do it."
The events following Curry's dismissal from Today has not been forgotten with viewers, even producers of the show. Today weatherman Al Roker joked about the show's reputation of throwing "someone under the bus" last week which led to speculation it was in regards to Lauer's cold relationship with Curry. NBC spokesperson Megan Kopf and Roker would later note the joke was not about Curry.
Viewership for the NBC morning show have been on the decline since spring and continued to slip with new co-host Savannah Guthrie. Ratings rebounded during the coverage of the 2012 London Summer Olympics, but with the Olympics over, it will be interesting to see if Today can keep that momentum.
