Running out of pizza dough? Scrimping out on pizza deliveries but still in need of a quick pizza fix? Check out J. Kenji Lopez-Alt's Ramen Crust Pizza recipe and enjoy good pizza-ish food in 30 minutes.
It all starts out with what J. Kenji Lopez-Alt describes as "barely cooked" ramen noodles. In the recipe, he made use of 2 packs of ramen as the dough or crust. An iron skillet with a few tablespoons of olive oil was initially heated up. After heating, the "barely cooked" ramen noodles were firmly pressed down to an even layer making a solid "cake of noodles."
Strips of cheese were then added to the noodle crust to prevent the tomato sauce from seeping into the noodles. A can of tomato sauce is then poured over the noodles and cheese combination. More cheese is added along with pepperoni, pepperoncini and freshly-grated 24-month old Parmesan cheese. The whole creation was then baked at 450 deg. F. in an oven.
After 20 minutes, the brown and crisped ramen crust pizza can then be enjoyed.
